This chapter is dealing with covenant that God made with the Israelite at Mount Sinai on their journey to Canaan. It also includes Jesus new commandment of Love is the continuation of the Ten Commandments.

Presentation of the lesson

The chapter can be presented through a discussion on rules/ laws. There are certain rules everywhere; let it be school or church or public places. Ask children to say a few of the common rules.Children will defiantly say: no smoking, keep queue, Keepchapel outside, keep the premises clean, walk slowly/ gently etc. teacher may elaborate them. And make them clear thatrules are the laws guidelines given by God to have a peaceful and disciplined life on earth. And then teacher may proceed to the chapter.

Let us do

Let children write down the Ten Commandments on 10 chart papers one each on a paper. Let 10 children stand in order holding each card, so that if at all there is anyone who has not by hearted it can do it now. Also the children should write down the commandments in the space given in their text book.

Commandments in tablets:

Make two tablets out of the cardboards and write down the 10 commandments on them. Display the tablets in the class room.
Rules in the classroom:

Have a discussion in the class on whether rules are needed in class room. As the result of the discussion get a few rules, write them down on chart papers and display it. For eg: say ‘praise be to Jesus’ to those elders who visit the class, when attendance taken say a bible verse to clear your presence.
Love…love…

Ask children to collect stories, poems and slogans on love. Let them present the same in the class
