Chapter Context

After a long and tedious journey, the Israelites find its end in the Promised Land. This chapter well depicts the death of Moses and the leadership of Joshua. It creates awareness in the children that we too are pilgrims on earth, making our journey towards heaven.

- We too have to reach Heaven, our promised land

- Praise God who helped the Israelites to reach the Promised Land despite of all the hurdles and difficulties that they confronted on the way.
- Let us be grateful to Jesus who has prepared Heaven for us.

- Live a life with the ardent desire to enter into heaven

Holy Bible, paper-slips, bible stories
Presentation of the lesson

Teacher starts the class by sharing his/her own experience where God blessed him to do out a difficult task. It would be better that the experience sharing be in detail. Then ask children to share such experiences, if they have any. Teacher may help them to express it and then move to the chapter.

Paper-slips are distributed among the children. Ask them to write down their greatest dream. Getting them back, teacher reads everything. If anyone has written ‘to reach heaven’, explain on that. Biographies of saints can be used as examples.

Discuss the differences between these two. Also find out the places those having such peculiarities.
