Chapter Context

This chapter deals with the history of Abraham, the Father of Faith. It does have the historical narratives that start from the call of Abraham. This chapter aims to make children firm in their faith and to make them understand the need of faith.

Teacher's Guide

  1. Conviction

    - Abraham is the role model for those who believe in God.
    - It was because of the deep faith and obedience that Abraham had towards the promise of God that he remained blessed.

  2. Attitudes

    - We need to be firm in our faith following Abraham
    - We have to be firm in our faith even in our adverse situations
  3. Habit

    - I will believe in God and follow His commandments

  4. Teaching aids

    Text book, bible story books, chart paper
  5. Presentation of the lesson

    Chapter can be presented in the format of ‘say our dreams’.Children can be asked to share any dream that they remember and ask them to interpret the same. And then the teacher speaks about the importance of the interpretation of dreams. He adds the famous dreams that great personalities had. Further slowly draw the attention of the children to the chapter by narrating the dream that the King Pharaoh had.

  1. Compare the dreams:

    Narrate both the dreams that Pharaoh had and ask children to find out the similarities and differences between the two. Teacher may note down them on the board.

  2. Know more about the character:

    Collect as much information about Joseph, the Old Testament character. Find out the special features and present them before the class. Decide which all of his qualities can be assimilated or imbibed.

  3. Prepare a chart:

    Write down the names of the 12 apostles on a chart paper and exhibit it in the class room.
