The Punishment Of Sin

Chapter Context

The theme of this lesson is sin and its consequences. The mistakes we make hurt God and rob us of joy. Through this lesson, teachers should be able to make children understand the need to stay away from the situation of hurting God due to my thoughts, words and actions.

Teacher's Guide

  1. Conviction

    - Adam and Eve ran away from God and hid themselves because they had sinned.
    - God was hurt when Adam and Eve went away from Him. God came in search of them.
    - Although God punished them, He showed mercy to them.
  2. Attitude

    - We must love the God who comes in search of us and loves us even though we sinned.
    - God punishes yet shows mercy to us. We must be thankful to God for this.
  3. Habit

    - Do not hurt God by sin.
    - I should also show mercy to others just as God is merciful.

  4. Teaching aids

    - Holy Bible, Charts etc. Stories (stories that show forgiveness inspite of doing wrongs)

  5. Presentation of the lesson

    Child steals money from father’s purse – Spends the money with friends – In the evening it is time for father to return home – Child is scared – Hides without coming home – Father is angry by knowing of the loss of money – But is hurt when he does not see his child – Searches – Finds child Narrate this story in attractive way and then present the lesson.
  1. Let ussing, Let us pray

    (Check the guidelines given in previous chapters)
  2. Give colour and fill in

    Let children the picture using the colours they like colour.
  3. Looking at the pictures, can you narrate the story?

    Discuss the details of each picture in the class. Then let the children narrate the story as per their own imagination.
  4. Let us find out and remember

    The Word of God in the petals is out of order. Write it in sequence with colours. Teacher should say the first half of the Word of God. Let children find the remaining half. Encourage children to memorize this Word of God
  5. Find out the answers

    1. Adam and Eve did not have the courage to face God since they acted against His command. Hence they hid when they heard the footsteps of God. 2. Our God is a God who searches and comes to us.
