Jesus Who Teaches The People

Chapter Context

This text describes Jesus beginning his mission and choosing his disciples. Jesus is becoming all things to everyone by preaching the gospel and performing miracles and signs. The message is that each of us should imitate Christ in our family, society and work.

Teacher's Guide

  1. Conviction

    - Jesus is the Divine Teacher (Guru) who taught Gospel truths to people.
    - The summary of Jesus’ teachings is known as the Beatitudes.
    - The prayer that Jesus taught is known as the Lord’s
    Prayer beginning with Our Father in Heaven.
    - Jesus speaks to us through the Bible.
  2. Attitude

    - We should obey what Jesus taught us.
    - We should accept and proclaim that Jesus is the Teacher and Lord of the world.
    - We must develop respect and devotion for the Holy Bible.

  3. Habit

    - Love even those who hurt you.
    - Trust in God in all your troubles.
    - Say the Lord’s Prayer that Jesus taught us, with faith.
    - Show interest in listening to the Word of God. Use the Holy Bible with respect.

  4. Teaching aids

    - Holy Bible, Pictures - Lily flowers – Birds - Charts

  5. Presentation of the lesson

    Children love those who tell them stories. They love to be with those who tell stories – they surround them eagerly and hear stories – In the same way there were many people always around Jesus as He told them many good things. Also Jesus consoled them and cured their diseases.

  1. Let’s venerate, Let’s sing and praise

    Decorate and keep the Holy Bible on the classroom desk. Children come one by one, offer flowers, touch and venerate
    the Bible (Instruction to bring flowers should be given in previous class itself) – Then teacher and students together sing songs.

    Yeshuvin sakshikalaakaan
    Lokathilengum pokaan
    Nadhan vilikyunu namme.
    Irulakathidum velicham
    Murivunakiduna thailam
    Suvisheshamakuna danam

    (You can sing any other appropriate songs)

  2. Filling Bible Verse Box

    Distribute pieces of paper of equal sizes among all students. Ask them to write colorfully and neatly any favorite bible verse in the piece of paper and get it in next class. Ask them to seek help from their parents. In next class, teacher should draw a big box on a chart paper and hang it on the wall. Fill the Bible Verse Box by sticking the verses that children brings. Instruct students to memorize the verse they bring. (Instead of drawing a box on chart paper, you can put the verses in a box too).
